Find a Contractor
Placing and finishing exterior concrete paving is very different than interior slabs-on-grade or elevated slabs. Therefore, to help ensure the highest quality finished product for yourself or your client, it is recommended that your concrete contractor understand the differences involved with exterior concrete paving. To help you find a quality concrete contractor in your area, the CRMCA has developed a partnering program. This program allows concrete contractors who meet the minimum requirements to partner with the CRMCA as preferred contractors.
The CRMCA offers this list of preferred certified concrete contractors in the Carolinas. These concrete contractors have earned either "ACI Flatwork Finisher or Technician" or "NRMCA Certified Pervious Concrete Contractor" certification, or both, and have made a commitment to exterior concrete paving.
To qualify as a preferred partner for concrete paving, the concrete contractors on the list must meet the following criteria:
- To partner with the CRMCA for conventional concrete paving, the contractor must have at least two certified ACI Flatwork Finishers or one certified ACI Flatwork Finisher and three certified ACI Flatwork Technicians on staff.
- To partner with the CRMCA for pervious concrete paving, the contractor must have at least one NRMCA Certified Pervious Craftsman, three NRMCA Certified Pervious Installers or five NRMCA Certified Pervious Technicians on staff.
- Contractors must have also completed a training course on concrete parking lot design and construction.
- In addition to this, contractors must be in good standing with CRMCA producer members.
Special Note:
It is everyone’s goal to see that the final product not only meets, but exceeds expectations. To help ensure this, it is recommended that a Concrete Parking Lot Pre-Placement meeting be held with all parties involved. This includes, but is not limited to, the design team (architect, engineer and landscape architect), general contractor, construction manager, concrete contractor, concrete producer, MEP sub-contractors and more. Most importantly, the landscaping contractor’s presence at the meeting is necessary when pervious concrete is being installed. During this meeting, it is important to verify that all of the individuals overseeing and directing the concrete placing and finishing operations be certified as ACI Flatwork Finishers, for conventional concrete. For pervious concrete, the concrete contractor needs to meet the requirements for ACI 522.1-08, "Specification for Pervious Concrete Pavement."
